4. Do You Have a Governance Policy for AI Use?

Include hands-on scenarios so employees can recognize risky behavior in their own workflows. If you do not have a security awareness training program at all, that is step zero.

7. Do You Have a Plan for When Things Go Wrong?

AI systems will make mistakes. They will hallucinate facts, misclassify data, and produce outputs that are wrong or biased. Your incident response plan needs to account for AI-specific scenarios: What happens when an AI tool exposes sensitive data? Who is responsible when an AI-generated report contains errors that affect a business decision?

Action step: Update your incident response plan to include AI-specific scenarios. Define roles, escalation paths, and communication templates for AI-related incidents.
